Policy Proposals for the London Plan

The Community Food Growers Network (CFGN), Capital Growth, Women’s Environmental Network (WEN), Federation of City Farms & Gardens and Just Space have worked together to write London Plan policy proposals to support community food production and projects in the capital.

We want a London where all Londoners have access to fresh nutritious food, community space, and opportunities for training & employment.

Background

The policies have been shaped by the needs of organisations across the London community food sector and have been edited based on feedback at the ‘Future of London’s food system’ event in February 2016.

The proposals are aimed to support and expand the multiple benefits of the community food sector which can help to meet GLA strategic outputs such as:

  • mental and physical health
  • job creation
  • access to nutritious food
  • training opportunities
  • low environmental impact
  • resilient local economies

The policy proposals were launched at City Hall on Thursday 17th of November 2016 with speakers from some of London’s leading organisations in the sector.
